Day Six · For You Alone
声Before she needs the words
There is one more thing we want to give you today before her path begins.
The single most protective thing you can give your daughter right now — more than any resource, more than any conversation, more than anything else — is the knowledge, held in her body before she ever needs it, that she can come to you with anything.
Anything.
We know what is coming for her. Not because something will go wrong — but because something always happens. The spectrum is wide. It might be a comment from a classmate that lodges somewhere and takes years to remove. It might be a friendship that turns cruel in the quiet particular way that only girls know how to be cruel. It might be something she sees that changes the way she looks at her own body. It might be something much heavier. We do not know which. But we know that the single most determining factor in how she carries whatever comes is this: does she know, in her body and not just her mind, that you can hear it?
That is what ITOSHII builds between you. Slowly, gently, week by week. The letters will create openings for conversations you did not know how to begin. She will say things, sometimes, that surprise you — and the fact that she said them at all is the whole point. That is the path working. That is ITOSHII doing exactly what it was built to do.
You are allowed to find this hard sometimes. You are allowed to not have all the answers, to sit with her in something you cannot fix. You do not have to be perfect at this. You just have to keep the door open. That has always been enough.
Your circle is there for you too — the people you gathered yesterday, the other parents walking this path alongside you. Use them. You were never meant to hold all of this alone.
And if something arises this year — for her or for you — that feels bigger than your circle can hold, please reach further without a moment of shame. In Australia, the Butterfly Foundation supports families navigating eating and body concerns. Kids Helpline is available to young people any time of the day or night. Beyond Blue supports families through anxiety and mood concerns. Whatever country you are in — there is support. You are never without somewhere to turn.
You do not have to have it all sorted. You just have to not be alone with it.
Tomorrow is your last preparation day. Her first letter arrives the day after.
You are more ready than you know.
With love — and the deepest tenderness for what you have chosen,
Honour Her
She Will Not Cross Alone.
